Meet Ms. Jone’t Henderson, Kindergarten Teacher
My name is Jone’t Henderson. I am eager to begin a new year in my teaching career with a highly qualified team of professionals. I have grown to appreciate and admire the high quality standards established for students and staff at Friendship Academy of the Arts. I believe the commitment within Friendship Academy to focus on the whole child, nurturing the intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child, to reach their highest potential match up perfectly with my teaching interest and beliefs. I am committed to maximizing the academic success of each student through researched based, innovative and reflective instructional practices. As a teacher I stand behind the importance of making sure that students are receiving the best education possible and that they are exposed to an environment that is filled with strong literacy and a high emphasis upon actively engaging in collaborative learning.
Upon graduating from Farmington High School, I have earned a bachelor’s degree from Virginia State University in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Elementary Education. After I graduated I decided to continue my love for learning and entered the masters program at the University of Minnesota where I received my Masters Degree in Elementary Education. Before graduating with my Masters I served as a substitute teacher for Farmington Public Schools for one year. I was given a wonderful opportunity to work with a wide range of diverse students at all levels of education including elementary, middle and high school. I was fortunate enough to witness first hand the degree to which students developed mentally and physically throughout the different levels of their education. I have gained the necessary knowledge to accommodate different learning styles that will help me to meet the varying needs of all students at their appropriate developmental stage.
I look forward to teaching Kindergarten this year and sharing my love for learning with my students!
